Kukatpally is located in Hyderabad. It comes under Rangareddy district. It has a population of 358,455 (2004 census) and forms part of the Greater Hyderabad conurbation. Most of its population is from the coast of Andhra Pradesh. It is located on the North West fringe of Hyderabad city and is a major educational hub with several junior colleges & schools. It is well connected with the rest of the city as it falls on the road between Hyderabad and Patancheru which is the last stop for North West bound city buses.

It is home to JNTU (Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University).

About KPHB colony (Kukatpally Housing Board Colony was buit in early 1980s. It was the largest colony in Asia at that time. Now a very wide road connects this place to the HI-TEC city (Hyderabad Information Technology Engineering Consultancy). Malaysian township has also been recently built. It is very close to many engineering colleges and it has got some of the best schools and hospitals. And that makes it a best choice for newcomers to Hyderabad. Kukatpally is well connected with Hi-Tech City thru Malaysian Township via Hi-Tech MMTS Railway Station. It has good Posh Delux, Apartments shopping Malls like TMG, Spencer etc. Also Host a Hub for Interstate deluxe Volvo Buses for Maharastra, Karnataka, and Chattisgarh and nearby states of India. It has it own Kukatpally Industrial Area where most of good companies manufacture Ceiling fans etc. Kukatpally no has a METRO supermarket.
