KOLKATA: Tata Motors has dropped the idea of having multiple Nano assembling units. "As of now, the decision is to produce the Nano only at Singur," a Tata Motors spokesman said. "Initially, we will make 2.5 lakh Nanos yearly," he added.

The ancillary units coming up adjacent to Tata Singur factory had earlier said that Nano components would only be made at Singur. In the past, the plan was to make the Nano car from multiple locations, including Uttaranchal.

Tata Ryerson managing director Sandipan Chakravarty said the component facility for Nano will be in Singur only. "We are setting up a component facility in Uttarachal too, but that is for Ace," he said. The company is planning to invest Rs 100 crore for setting up a component facility in Singur.
